Travel cribs are considered a necessity nowadays, especially when the family loves going to different places and you need to bring the little one along.
Having a travel crib allow babies to rest well even outside of the house, and this is why it\’s considered a necessity. Babies are real sensitive especially when it comes to their sleeping surface, and making them sleep in a strange bed may make them grumpy the next day. Travel cribs were made to be baby-friendly, and having them will no doubt making going on trips a lot easier.
Still, one of the biggest questions parents ask is whether it\’s better to get a travel crib second-hand or brand new. Let\’s take a look at the difference.
When it comes to price, getting a second-hand travel crib would of course allow you to save a lot. A brand new crib could cost anywhere from $100 to $500, while a second-hand one would only cost around $30 to $50 (of course, depending on where you get it).
Safety is a big consideration when it comes to cribs, and I would go for brand-new when it comes to this. Although I\’m sure manufacturers make the safest cribs, it may have lost some parts after someone uses it. It may not be as stable, and it could actually topple over your baby if it\’s not stable enough.
Some second-hand cribs still look very good if they were well-taken care of, so there\’s not a big difference between a brand new crib and a second hand one when it comes to looks. If you decide to purchase it off the net though, I suggest meeting with the seller first so you can actually see the crib for yourself. There may be dents and scratches that are not showing on the picture.
In conclusion, I\’d say nothing beats a brand new travel crib and get it if you have the money. Second-hand cribs may allow you to save more, but safety is a big consideration and that\’s something only a brand new crib can give you.
